CD Almuñécar City headed the short distance north on Sunday night to play Órgiva on a pitch so small some people struggled

to find it.

With the three points from El Clasico finally being awarded to CDAC, they kicked off the game knowing they had a three point advantage over second place Puntalon, who went on to beat Arenas de Armilla 3-2 with a last minute winner.

Taking the pitch into consideration, George Jermy shuffled the team around for the match against the side sitting bottom of the table. Jiminez and Ika started in place of Sindholt and Jermy and the shape switched to a back three.

It took City until the second half to really feel comfortable in the surroundings. They led 2-1 at the break, the opening goal taken well by Jiminez. A wonderful through ball by Sandro, playing the first half in the middle of the back three, fed Ika who doubled the lead moments later. However, they say you are at your weakest when you’ve just scored and this proved to be the case for CDAC on this sole occasion, Kilpatrick remaining rooted to his line when cross came in and Órgiva halving their deficit.

The second half was all City’s. Twice Ramsell broke down the right and fired in crosses for Tre Hayes to head home. Sindholt came off the bench to grab another brace, making him joint top scorer in the division. Hayes had a chance to claim a hat-trick from the penalty spot but missed, only to see Chris Sanchez follow up and score in his last appearance before returning to the USA.

CDAC needed a convincing win on the road on a pitch that didn’t suit them to send out a message to teams hoping that a small pitch would be their best chance to stop the juggernaut. This victory should, hopefully, remove that monkey from the club’s back as they look forward to a well earned weekend off in the league.
