Bill & Blues

ALM Bill O'HaireThe American Blues guitarist, Bill O’Haire, will be giving a performance at the Casa de La Cultura in Almuñécar on November the 1st at 21.00h – definitely not to be missed!

Bill began his career in San Francisco, playing lead guitar in the Mike Henderson Blues Band, doing shows with Jerry Garcia, Michael Bloomfield, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and John Mayall, among others.

Not only is he a successful Blues guitarist, but he is also a composer and has contributed to musical scores for independent films and made many TV appearances.

Bill, known for his slick blues style, especially slide-guitar work, moved to Amsterdam, where he played the Amsterdam Blues Festival.

He toured Europe leading a 3-piece formation called the Bill O’Haire Trio. One of the members was the former drummer from the Kinks, Mick Avory. He has also rubbed shoulders with Bob Dylan and worked with the Jimi Hendrix Experience bassist, Noel Redding.

But it’s not all been Blues because he has studied Jazz with the Jazz guru, Charlie Banacos in Boston, so that he could match his Blues with Trad Jazz and ooze out a fine blend of the two.

Fortunately for us, he now lives in Almuñécar, so for those of you who have not had the chance to see this very talented musician before, Wednesday’s your chance!
