Old Town Roadworks

Road works are due to begin on the 6th of November in Salobreña, affecting the main streets in the old town.

The whole sewage, mains water, rain drainage system is going to be replaced – a task that has been common place in town on the Costa Tropical over the last 12 months or more.

The affected streets are Calle Ladera de la Cruz, Calle Juan XXIII and Calle calle Rosario.

The Mayor, María Eugenia Rufino, says that this has been a long-standing task that is long over due and that once complete it should eliminate the lack of mains pressure for once and for all.

This work is expected to take six months, affecting 5,000 metres of street surfaces and has a budget of 822.370 euros.

Once all the underground infrastructure has been replaced, the surface will be relaid with immitation cobblestone/flat brick.

Calle Ladera de la Cruz near the Mirador de Enrique Morente already has barriers in place.

Which brings us to the matter of new urban transport. Because of the roadworks, a smaller kind of vehicle will replace the bus that normally does the route in the old town.

It will run from 08.00h through to 20.00h and will run along Calle Constitución, Calle Muralla, Calle Agrela, Calle Bóveda, Calle Martín Recuerda, Calle Estación, Calle Torre, Calle Gloria, Calle Antequera, Calle Portichuelo, Calle 28 de Febrero, Plaza Juan Carlos I, as far as Calle Goya and the Mercado Municipal.
