The Almuñécar Councillor for Citizen Safety and Traffic, Juan José Ruiz Joya, a man with many hats, has handed over a brand-new patrol car to the municipal police.
The patrol car, a 110CV, Dacia Duster cost 18,000 euros, which by no coincidence is exactly three million pesetas, just in case you thought that the old currency was long dead. Even car manufacturers still think in pesetas, it seems.
Anyway, the keys were handed over in front of the police station yesterday. The Councillor said that the Town Council would continue to invest in new transport for the municipal police because “citizen security/safety is a central tenet to this council,” he beamed.
Editorial comment: and here I am with my 12-year-old banger with a truculent gearbox and a front bumper secured with twisted wire for the forseeable future…
