The Mayor of Motril, Flor Almón, and health representatives from the Junta and Hospital Santa Ana have signed a pact that will see a Motril beach area converted to non-smoking.
This is a pioneering concept in Andalucia and will affect a beach area between AWA Watersport and the Club Los Moriscos, at the end of Playa Granada, and will come into affect this coming summer as part of the campaign, Malos Humos, No Gracias.
This Spanish project, (RASSELH) is part of an international one entitled, Global Network For Tobacco Free Health Services (ENSH-Global). Furthermore, the area hospital Santa Ana has long been integrated into the Plan Integral de Tabaquismo de Andalucía (PITA).
So, there you have it, Motril is going to have the first non-smoking beaches in Andalucia.
