Tarmacking work on the Ronda de Poniente in Motril will mean it will be closed to traffic tomorrow – that’s the road from the Al Campo roundabout up to the hospital.
It will be reopened during the weekend and closed again on Monday the 25th.
The Councillor for Maintenance, Gloria Chica, explained that the road would be closed from 07.45h to 14.00h on both days. She calls on road users to use alternative routes, such as Calle San Antonio, Calle Ancha, Calle Manuel Peña, Barranco de las Monjas or Rambla de las Brujas.
The Friday and Monday work is to prepare the road, in both directions for tarmacking later in the week; i.e. from Tuesday on.
She went on to explain that this work hadn’t been carried out before because of a lack of funds and that the summer months had been too hot for the tarmacking-crew to work – the outside temperature combined with the heat from the molten tar has already caused the death of one worker this year in Spain.
This work has a budget of 105,690 euros, which includes the prior clean-up of the road verges and the asphalting from Calle Camino de Minasierra, right up to the roundabout at the top of town, just up from the hospital.
