Police Cell Deaths Investigated

MOT police station OnLThe Policía Nacional in Motril are carrying out two internal investigations after two prisoners died in their cells last week.

The first investigation is being carried out by the Comisaría General de Seguridad Ciudadana, which have carried out inspections of the cells where the prisoners died. The second investigation, which will begin tomorrow, Monday, will be carried out by the Secretaría de Estado de Seguridad.

The deaths occurred on the 9th and 12th of September.

The doubt cast on the detention and holding protocol by the PSOE Spokesman was not well received by the Policia Nacional as the Provincial Sub-Delegate for Citizen Safety (i.e., policing) considers that such observations made when not in command of all the relevant facts are “less than productive.”

The said Central Government’s provincial representative assures that existing custody protocols are perfectly defined in all  Policia-Nacional police stations across the country.

He further considers that the deaths on the 9th and 12th are in no way related in any other sense than in the fact that they were both acts of suicide.
