A Swiss couple were badly injured yesterday after being struck by lightning when they were sightseeing at the Torre de Cala in Basset, which is a vantage point in Adratax (Mallorca).
It appears that the couple were at this elevated point when the lightning bolt hit them. Passersby called 112 and a special medical unit was sent, owing to the gravity of their injuries.
Also despatched was a mountain-rescue unit belonging to the Mallorca Fire Service who were tasked with bringing them down on stretchers to the waiting ambulance.
The couple, who were immediately taken to Hospital Son Espases and are at present in the ICU.
