The Junta has finally put into motion the clearing of overgrown riverbeds and gullies on the Costa Tropical in preparation for the end-of-summer rains.
With a budget of 340,000 euros, 16 such waterways or storm beds will have the vegetation removed in Motril, Salobreña, Gualchos and Albuñol, as well as the municipal dependencies of Carchuna-Calahonda and Torrenueva.
The provincial delegate for the environment, Sra. Inmaculada Oria, came to Salobrena to meet with the Mayor, María Eugenia Rufino, and witness the work being carried out there; i.e., the Rambla de Dominguito.
Work has already been carried out, as well, in Carchuna-Calahonda namely on the Rambla de Vizcarra. Work will soon commence on Rambla de Rejón and Rambla de Chozón in the second fortnight of this month.
In Motril, work has already concluded on Rambla de Los Álamos and the Rambla de Las Brujas with work commencing on the Rambla de Campoy, San Nicolás and Cartujilla, again, in the second half of September.
In Albuñol work has already concluded in El Pozuelo with the Rambla del Hornillo in Gualchos being scheduled for October.
Finally, the Rambla de Villanueva and the Barranco de la Hoz in Torrenueva will be cleared ‘this autumn.’
