La Herradura is holding its annual across-the-bay swimming competition this coming Sunday (3rd), which will be the last competition in the provincial swimming trials 2017.
These swimming competitions are not limited to bay crossings but also take place in the province’s reservoirs, such as Negratín, Colomera and starting this year, Bermejales.
The way the drought is going, mind, next year the reservoirs will probably convert to cross country runs…
There are five categories: infantiles, junior, sénior, máster 30, máster 40 and local. The minimum age to participate is 8-years old. The maximum age is “as long as you can still float.”
The races start at 11.00h with the infantil race (no you can’t enter your husband under this category) with a 500-m course from Varadero Dani to La Caleta.
At noon the rest of the categories begin with the 2,000-metre course between Peña Parda and La Caleta.
If you want to participate the inscription fee is eight euros per trial and for the whole circuit 30 euros. Don’t ask me; I don’t understand it either but you can visit www.travesiasdipgra.com for more info. Oh, for locals the inscription fee is free.
Anyway prize giving is at 13.30h – Note: swimmers arriving from Morocco are disqualified.
