On the 31st of August La Vuelta de España 2017 (cycling race) will leave Motril and pass along the N-340 through the municipalities of Salobreña, Almuñécar and La Herradura.
A total of 291 policemen, (177 Guardia Civil and 114 Policía Nacional) will make sure that the race goes smoothly, traffic wise, as it passes through the province of Granada. They will be helped by the local police in the towns where the competitors and their accompanying vehicles will pass.
Leg 12 on the 31st will start in Motril and end in Antequera, in the province of Malaga. On the 3rd of September (Leg 15) it will depart Alcalá la Real with the finishing line in the Sierra Nevada, at the Hoya de la Mora.
This route will take it through Puerto Lope, Ventas de Algarra, Pinos Puente, Granada, Cenes de la Vega, Pinos Genil, Güejar Sierra, Huétor Vega, and Monachil.
