The street-cleaning company in Almuñécar and La Herradura, made a major sweep of accumulating dumped household furniture etc on Friday 7th and Saturday the 8th.
According the local FCC spokesman, Wafitta Asilah, they picked up a total of 180 cubic metres of such objets from the streets, which is equivalent to five 20 m3 containers. So why was there so much of this junk hanging around?
Firstly, too many people are dragging out this kind of rubbish on Thursdays without letting the company know that it is out there. Secondly, and only a perhaps, a lot of people have arrived to take up temporary residence in their summer accommodation and decided to buy new furniture.
Now, the number that you should phone if you want an old armchair, table or freezer away, is 958 838 600. You can’t dump your old household furniture or electrical appliances on a street corner, mind, before 21.00h, and only on Thursday.
That’s Almuñécar. In the case of La Herradura the number is 958 640 425 (municipal offices in the Centro Cívico). The rubbish collection day is Tuesday but the earliest time that you can dump is the same as La Herradura: 21.00h.
There is also an email address that is common to both towns belonging to the municipality which is www.lineaverdealmunecar.com
