The first phase of paseo-road tarmacking in La Herradura, where they have laid new mains and drainage pipes was concluded just in time for the summer.

According to the Chairman of the Mancomunidad, Sergio García Alabarce, the scheduled first phase was finished ahead of time and also covered more ground than was envisaged.

“We promised to get it done and that’s what we did,” said Sr.García; obviously a man not accustomed to such achievements.

Work on the paseo will recommence at the end of September. In the meantime, he announced, work would commence in the old town where the water mains and utility cabling will be replaced, and the sewage system overhauled, separating the actual sewage from rain drainage.

The old-town work has an individual budget of 800,000 euros on top of the budget of 2.2m euros for the paseo work.
