Summer Rubbish Collection

ALM Rubbish CollectionThe Almuñécar Town Hall reminds residents and visitors alike that from the 26th of June to the 15th of September there will be summer rubbish-collection times in force.

During the winter the dustbin men, as we used to call them in the UK, come around not long before midnight and work well into the the next morning, however during the summer with high temperatures and more people out on the streets during the early hours, the system has to change, obviously.

Rubbish collection during the summer will be carried out before 21.00h, so don’t put your rubbish out after that time. This really affects the centre of the town, i.e., Avenida Juan Carlos I, Avenida Andalucía and Avenida Europa; Paseo Puerta del Mar & Paseo Prieto Moreno, as well as the pedestrian streets in heart of the town.

As for the time that you should put your rubbish out, it must be done between 16.00h and 18.00h.

If you have hoppers out (restaurants and block communities) you must get them back in before 21.30h.

Editorial note: this arrangement seems a bit strange, if not contraversial as the hottest time of day is precisely when you have to put your rubbish out, meaning that it will be sat in the blazing sun until nine in the evening… Before, you could be fined if you put it out before 20.30h. Interesting to see how this works out.
