Successful Naval Visit

MOT METEORO warshipA total of 8,000 people turned up at Motril Port to see the seven docked warships belonging to the Spanish Navy.

The heatwave didn’t keep Motrileños and other visitors from having a good nose around the ships.

Although the flotilla left Sunday morning, there is a lasting souvenir of their visit in the form of an anchor donated by the Navy and installed on a roundabout Saturday morning. The anchor comes from an old warship; a patrol ship and is of the type used by ships since the 19th Century.

MOT Numancia FrigateAnd whilst civilians visited the ships, the 400 crew members of the flotilla visited Motril and its restaurants – there was a special discount at many establishments for the sailors.
