The Club Náutico in Motril has held its yearly competition entitled Certamen Gastronáutico La Sirenita; this is the fourth year of this annual event.

This year saw José Antonio Abad, who is the Chef at the Restaurante El Ancla in Calahonda take the first prize with his dish Trampantojo, winning himself 600 euros.

The other top prize winners were, our Miguel Flores from Más que Tapas (and Rest. Reina Sofía both in Almuñécar) who won the Second Prize of 300 euros and José Miguel de la Blanca from Hotel Miba in Salobreña, who on the Third Prize of 200 euros.

Secondary prizes were won the chef at Stylo Costa in Motril, Javier Sánchez and the chef at Gastrobar Fabiola on Playa Granada, Fran Spiecker.

Finally, this year the competitors had to include rabbit and mackrel in their first course.

The actually prize giving for this event will take place on the 29th of June at a special dinner, where apart rom the prizes themselves, the winner will also receive a small statue of the Sirena.
