An 85-year-old woman is being tried this week, accused of killing her 82-year-old husband with one of her crutches, dealing out 14 blows with the said ‘weapon.’
The incident took place at home in July 2015 in Rincón de la Victoria (Málaga). According to the Public Prosecutor, the man, who was suffering from liver cancer, was so weakened that he required help to wash, dress and move around the house.
On the 21st of that July, soon after a relative had left the couple alone, considers the P.C., she went over to him where he was lying on the sofa and “taking advantage of his weakened state; i.e., without the ability to defend himself, she hit him 14 times on the head with her crutch.”
The resulting head injuries brought about his subsequent death despite emergency treatment in hospital.
The woman, “after cleaning and hiding the crutch, went outside to ask for help, saying that her husband had fallen and hit his head.”
However, after the police began checking, it became apparent that the man had not simply fallen off the couch and that there were indications of a possible homicide.
