An elderly man was knocked over and killed in Alicante when he was hit by a vehicle allegedly driven by a minor, who then fled the scene of the accident.

The accident took place at 22.45 horas, on the Avenida de Oviedo, which is in the Playa de Alicante vicinity, resulting in the death of the 75-year-old man.

Despite the young driver abandoning the scene of the accident without providing assistance, he was later brought into the local police station by his mother – she had phoned 112 to report the accident, giving her name address. The police and informed her that she should report to the police station along with her son.

The driver was charged with manslaughter and will appear before a minors magistrate.
