The original idea was to begin work on the paseo in La Herradura at the beginning of the year, finishing before the tourist season, but things seldom go to plan.
So, the idea now is to begin after Semana Santa, armed with a 1.8-million budget, and rip out all the underground pipes and cables, slap in separate rain and sewage systems, renew phone and electrical cabling, and plonk a spanking new paseo on top of it all.
But it’s not only the paseo that will receive the full attention of workers, but also the old town in the village centre, affecting between ten and 15 streets. The combined budget reaches 2.5m euros.
Back on the paseo, the first work phase will go from the main sewage-collection point up to the municipal market, starting immediately after Semana Santa and ending during June… supposedly.
This first phase might also include – it’s still not certain – the construction of a roundabout on the seafront road where it is intersected by Avenida Prieto Moreno.
