The municipal police in Benidorm arrested one of the 10-most-wanted men in the UK in the early hours of Saturday the 11th March.

The 25-year-old man was wanted by the British authorities for “crimes of robbery with violence and intimidation” carrying a “maximum punishment of three life sentences.”

The arrest took plae on Calle Mallorca, which is a popular area with British tourists. Two policemen approached the suspect, who bore a very close resemblance to one of the Interpol wanted posters, and asked for ID. He handed over a passport that did not match his description – it belonged to somebody else.

They informed him that he had to accompany them to the police station which was when he made a break for it. He was soon found, however, hiding in the swimming pool area of Edificio El Trébol.

He was taken to the municipal police station where he was picked up by officers from the Policia Nacional who had identified him as Gareth Bryan Edwards, born in 1991.
