The Almuñécar municipal police have recovered a scooter that was stolen last November, thanks to the plates not matching the make.
The police came across a group of youths in front of the Casa de la Cultura, who were ‘smoking something illegal.’ The policemen decided to search them all, bagging small quantities of cannabis.
Next to the group was the said scooter, so they checked it out via the number plates and found that they belonged to a different vehicle. When they went through the document compartment on the bike they came across two counterfeit 50-euro notes.
The stolen bike was a Honda 125 but the plates corresponded to a Yamaha Cygnus. The chassis number had also been erased.
When they searched the suspects, they found the keys to the bike on one of them, which pretty much sealed his fate. All of them were charged and handed over to the Guardia Civil.
