The arrest of two poachers was caught on film by a police helicopter in the Parque Natural de las Sierras Almijara in the municipality of Otívar.
The film footage shows the moment when the poachers were flushed from their hiding place by two policemen.
Both men were arrested by the Guardia Civil, who are investigating not only the incident itself, but the lack of relevant firearm licences.
One of the two suspects is a 60-year-old man from Otívar and the other a 23-year-old from Zubia, on the outskirts of Granada.
The game wardens (guardas rurales), belonging to the Junta de Andalucia, had spotted the men using rifles to hunt male mountain goats and phoned in for help from the Guardia Civil.
As the area is very rugged with difficult access, the Seprona (environmental branch of the Guardia Civil) requested the support of a helicopter to fly over the area in order to track down the culprits and transport them to the scene.
When the poachers spotted the helicopter they hid in the undergrowth, so the helicopter landed and the Seprona patrol began a search on foot and soon found them. Both men had in their possession rifles, which belonged to an Otivar resident who lacks a firearms licence .
