Padul Annual Food Fair

lec-padul-food-fair-2016Fancy a trip inland – not too far – then pop up to Padul between the 8th and 11th of this month for their food fair entitled, Lo Mejor del Sur.

This is the 18th year that it has been held so its hardly a new venture, but rather a firmly establish one with 40 businesses from the food, handicraft and tourism sector.

You will have the chance to sample cured meats and young wines provided by the Asociación Vitivinícola de Padul. There will be three wine experts judging the best vino de terreno at the VIII Certamen Comarcal de Vino Joven.

Running at the same time, on the 9th, 10th and 11th, a tourist train will take visitors around interesting corners of the town, ending at the Padul wetlands.

Furthermore on the 10th at the Centro Cultural Federico García Lorca there will an exposition of minerals.

Don’t forget that Padul has some very interesting walks: The Mammoth Route and the Hairy Rhinoceros Route – there’s even a Sabre-Tooth Tiger Route, thanks to the fossil finds in the valley.

Why not pop along to the nature classroom El Aguadero where you can peruse the 4-metre high replica of a Mammoth.

Oh, and if you are still not convinced, Padul brews its own beer and distills its own whiskey… What are you waiting for – you won’t be alone because last year 30,000 people turned up over the days that it ran.
