If you’ve been down to the Paseo del Altillo area of Almuñécar, you will have already noticed that Calle Livry Gargan is closed for roadworks.
The reason is the eternal but very necessary overhaul of the water mains and sewage system, and more importantly, the laying of a separate rain-drainage system so as not to use the same pipes as the sewage.
Calle Manilla, which goes from Plaza de Madrid to the Puerta del Mar beach, has already undergone this kind of infrastructure work but the same work on Calle Livry Gargan was postponed until now, i.e., having let the summer pass.
There was no mention in the press release about how long this street will be “en obras” but before Semana Santa should be a safe guess.
