A 24-year-old man was injured when the tree that he was toppling with a chainsaw fell onto him.
The incident occurred in Benalúa (near Guadix) on Friday the 4th shortly before 13.00h, which was when the emergency 112 centre received a call to say that an accident had taken place in a poplar plantation situated about a kilometre from the town.
The man, a worker for a publicly owned company, was not only injured by the falling tree, but also by the saw itself, which the tree trunk had knocked against his leg.
He was flown to the new central hospital in Granada, Hospital del Parque Tecnológico de la Salud, by helicopter.
