Stolen Van Chase

MOT policia nacional controles OnLThe Motril-based Policía Nacional, with the help of the Policía Local, managed to finally arrest two individuals after a car chase through town involving a stolen van.

The police had set up a routine road check and had signalled the van to pull over. At first the van slowed as if to stop but then accelerated and sped past, which was when the chase began.

Followed by patrol cars with their sirens blaring the van had zigzagged from lane to lane to avoid being overtaken before speeding down a narrow, one-way street, but all to no avail.

Finally, trapped at the end of the one-way street with the Policía Nacional and Policía Local behind them and a car coming head on up the right way, blocking their exit, the occupants gave themselves up, but not before attempting to flee on foot.

The detained were a 60-year old and a 35-year-old man, both with police records. The driver was immediately charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop at a road check.

A closer inspection of the van revealed that the plates did not match the vehicle and that both the van and mismatched plates had been stolen. In the back the police found balaclavas, torches and several tools, allegedly ready for use in ‘criminal activities.’
