Puppies in the Rubbish

mot-policia-local-onlA municipal-police patrol in Motril came across four puppies in a rubbish hopper on Monday the 19th whilst out on their early morning rounds.

It was at three in the morning that they heard sounds coming from inside one of these bins so they looked inside and found a plastic bag that was moving.

Inside the rubbish container on Calle Barranco de la Higuera were four puppies, two of which were already dead and the other two not far from it. One of the two was still attached to the placenta by its umbilical cord.

They immediately took the survivors to a nearby veterinary clinic after a phone call to the owner, where the two pups were given the aid that they needed. They are now awaiting a new home.

Under the relevant law articles (337.1, 337.3 and 337.4) anybody who abandons an animal can be fined or sentenced to a 6-month, suspended, jail sentence. For causing its death, between a six-month to an 18-month one.
