There has been a 43% increase in the number of French visitors to Almuñécar during this August compared with the same month in 2014. Compared with August 2015, the increase is 26.5%,
This data was supplied by the Councillor for Tourism, Rafael Caballero Jiménez.
The councillor considers that this increase is, in part, owing to the promotional online campaigns that the municipal tourist department has carried out on French Internet sites.
Councillor Caballero Jiménez admits that the results have been much higher than they had hoped for. He added that several hostelry establishments have deals with French tour operators.
Increases in the number of visitors from other countries include from the UK with a 16.5% increase, from Belgium with an 8% increase and from Scandinavia, up by 4%..
The council said that they would now concentrate their aim on the Scandinavian market, as they are habitual tourists during the winter, together with the British and Germans.
