A Guardia Civil policeman was injured, suffering multiple fractures after he was hit by a lorry as he stood on the hard shoulder.
The 40-year-old policeman had stopped on the A-92 just after noon Friday the 9th, where it passes next to Albolote to assist a driver with a mechanical problem.
Suddenly there was a small lorry bearing down on him and even though the driver was breaking frantically, it didn’t stop the vehicle’s wheel passing right over his foot.
The lorry came to rest some metres further on and the driver ran back to find out what had happened to the policeman.
The policeman was taken to the nearest hospital where he underwent an operation to fix his fractured leg.
This policeman was much luckier than a colleague in a similar incident several years ago on the 27/02/2013. The victim, who was also 40-years old at the time, was struck and killed by a lorry on the A-4 near Carlota (Córdoba). His patrol car had broken down and he was standing on the hard shoulder when a lorry hit him.
