The Policia Local in Motril have been busy lately fining lunatics on four wheels; there have been two incidents in the first week of September.

Councillor for Seguridad Ciudadana, María Ángeles Escámez, confirmed that in the first case the municipal police came across a driver who was using public roads in an “alarming” manner.

According to the police report, the driver suddenly stopped his car in the middle of the road and began berating other drivers, in an “inconceivable” manner.

When the police arrived, his willingness to collaborate with the officers was “visibly lamentable,” offering insults and threats in a “violent manner.” The police arrested him.

Another driver was found to be well over the limit, thanks to his alcohol intake. He was stopped at a road-control point and brightened everybody’s day when the breathalyzer equipment immediately expired from alcohol poisoning, bless his cotton socks.
