Post Office Deficit

AND correosThe First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya, considers that the village needs a better Post-Office service, eliminating dependency on Almuñécar.

The said councillor informs that he has passed on this demand to the provincial HQ of Correos in February, but as yet the Head of the department, Sr. Garcia Regalado, has not responded. By the way, the boss’s surname translates to ‘given away’… just saying!

As the situation stands the sub-post office in the village lacks certain services so that villagers have to go to Almuñécar to be able to use them.

The present location for the village post office goes back to the 90’s; with the space being ceded by the Town Hall to Correos. This post office is sufficient as somewhere to post letters and as a village distribution point for incoming mail, but for anything else, it off to Almuñécar you go.

Editorial comment: does the worthy council realize that Correos is shrinking drastically thanks to snail mail going out of existence – everybody sends emails and even e-cards for Christmas, so with massive cuts taking place within Correos right across the country, how can Correos fork out for a autonomous post office in La Herradura?
