Beach Works Starts in July

MOT Deteriorated beach OnLAccording to the regional, conservative MP, Carlos Rojas, beach regeneration work along the Costa Tropical will commence during the first week of July.

The ex-PP-Mayor of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, says that her party has asked Costas to carry out the sand-dumping operation during hours that cause least disruption to beach goers.

Both politicians – who belong to the same party as the Central Government/Costas – have justified Costa’s tardy actions, saying that their explanations are more than plausible; i.e., they were waiting for the spring gales to draw to a close.

Furthermore, Sra García claims that the present Mayor hadn’t requested Costa’s intervention until a week an a half ago, effectively leaving it too late.

She says that she has asked the engineers in charge that instead of using ten lorries, they use double or triple that number to get the task finished sooner.

Editorial comment: Amazing! And then politicians wonder why people have such a low opinion of them collectively. Let’s take this point by point:

Firstly, it is mind-numbingly idiotic to carry out this kind of work in July – the beaches are brimming with bathers and the paseo is chock-a-block with parked cars and pedestrians… and they want to run JCB’s and heavy-duty dumper trucks to shift hundreds of tonnes of sand? Sra. Garcia even suggests tripling the number of these cumbersome vehicles trundling along the beach road.

Secondly, if it their party were still in power in Motril and the socialists were in charge of Costas, these same two politicians – both ex mayors of Motril – would be screaming blue murder and beating their chests over the incompetence of Costas. Do they really think that people are that stupid that they don’t realize this?
