Salobreña Annual Fiestas

SAL Councillor FiestasLas Fiestas Patronales de Salobreña begin on the 23rd of this month – coinciding with San Juan – and will continue all through the weekend.

The day starts off with a Smurf Parade, accompanied by ‘big heads’ – that’s the giants with enormous heads.

No rockets this year, the Councillor for Fiestas explained, in deference to kiddies with hyper-sensitive hearing problems.

As the 23rd is San Juan, the festivities will move down to the beach area at 22.30h where DJ’s and local bands will provide some music. Midnight will see the lighting of the bonfires and the firework display.

There’s a special treat for kids, thanks to a 100m slide that has been erected on Calle Nicolás Redondo, which is behind the town-hall building.

Friday the 24th is the big day so at 20.00h there will be the church service and after that the saint’s procession (San Juan Bautista).

Saturday will see kiddie activities in the morning and live music in the evening.

Sunday’s the last day, but it is also voting day for the National Elections, so there will be very few activities and only in the morning, on Playa del Peñón.
