Information is very scant at the moment but it would appear that a vehicle has left the N-340 main road and careened down the Barranco de Enmedio between Almuñécar and Salobreña.

The accident occurred around ten this morning – the Gazette was alerted by concerned local residents in the area. Such is the steepness of the terrain, a fireman had to use ropes to reach the car and victims.

We received another text at 11.18h to say that the victim(s) had been brought up to the road and the emergency services had already left.

As yet, we do not know how many people were in the car nor their injuries. Hopefully we will be able to update later in the day.
