AND Rural Tourism Conference OnLSince the new law on holiday rentals has come into effect, 208 establishments in the province have inscribed on the Registro de Turismo de Andalucía.

On Friday the 13th the Junta Delegate, Sandra García, at a meeting in Granada with 160 business owners and tour operators in the rural-tourism sector, said, “We want to do away with fraud, intrusion and unfair competition, whilst at the same time guaranteeing quality.”

According to Sra García, tourism represents 14% of the province’s GNP; “We can’t kill the goose that lays the golden egg; we have to maintain good practice so as to generate quality employment.”

Whilst stating that the idea behind the new law was to guarantee quality for guests in such rural establishments, she admitted that it also obliges the owners of holiday lets to maintain a register of who stays overnight… Readers will remember that you have to produce an official ID at any hotel, hostel or pension, etc, and this information is handed over to the police.
