The Valle de Lecrín town of Dúrcal has been witnessing a spate of car burning in the town and area, which has the locals more than worried.
The latest incident occurred earlier this week (10th) on Calle Enebro during the early hours; this time the target was a large van, but there was collateral damage as the fire spread to a nearby parked car.
Furthermore, a family woke up startled by smoke in their bedrooms. Fortunately, logical fears of fire in the house subsided when the cause became known.
In fact, the neighbouring residents tackled the vehicle fire using buckets of water and garden hoses whilst they waited for firemen from the City of Granada to arrive.
But this is not an isolated incident in the area, because in the last 18 days a total of twelve vehicles have been deliberately set on fire within Granada itself and its outlying towns.
One such incident occurred on the 27th of April in Armilla. The firemen arrived to put out a car and no sooner had they packed up and left, another car was set on fire, probably by the same vandals.
All of these incidents have been taking place in the early hours of the morning.
