The environmental protection department of the Guardia Civil (Seprona) have confiscated 600 kilos of fish in La Rábita, at the eastern end of the Costa Tropical.

The fish was stashed in a cave-house with a total lack of hygiene and being prepared, cooked and packed for sale.

Amongst the confiscated fish were boquerones, (whitebait/anchovies) jibia (cuttlefish) and pulpo en salsa (octopus in sauce), as well as sun-dried octopus.

The 50-year-old alleged culprit was charged with contravening public health regulations.
