Salobreña Dog Day

SAL Dog Day OnLThe Town Hall square in Salobreña was packed with mutts and their mini owners, sporting green T-shirts… the owners; not the dogs.

The idea, organized by the Town Council and the municipal street-cleaning company, Cepsa, was to get everybody together – quadrupeds and bipeds but no mopeds – to talk about adopting pets and disposing of their droppings.

Two hundred people turned up, most of whom were schoolchildren, to enjoy the morning’s activities. Kids from 5th and 6th grades of the Salobreña, La Caleta and Lobres junior schools, put on an exhibition of drawings inside the auditorium

There were also short, campaign-related films screened, as well as a prize-giving session for the best, event-poster competition. There was even a dog-training demonstration put on.

Editorial comment: We just wonder, because we are wicked, if there were any dog droppings deposited on the square later that night…
