A man was arrested for allegedly throwing his dog out of a 3rd-floor window, resulting in its death.
The incident came to light in El Puerto de Santa Maria (Cádiz) after several neighbours phoned the police to say that there was the body of a dog lying on the interior patio of their apartment block. They claimed that its owner had intentionally thrown it from a window on the 3rd floor.
Accordingly, the police went round to investigate and were greeted by the irate residents of the said block of flats, who showed them the window from which the animal had ‘fallen.’
The witnesses went on to say that soon after the dog had landed, the owner had calmly walked down to pick up the body and then leave, together with his mother.
The suspect was tracked down to a nearby veterinary surgery, where he had taken it for disposal. The vet confirmed the cause of death to the police – multiple injuries from a considerable fall.
Finally, the same neighbours who had reported the incident claimed that the owner had often mistreated the dog.
