Chiringuito El Calabré

PP Calabre OnLThe Calabré – situated on Almuñécar’s Playa San Cristóbal, next to El Peñon del Santo – is the senior chiringuito in town, founded in July of 1967.

Owned and run by Pepe, this perfectly placed chiringuito has a permanent staff of five; Paquito, Jesus, Jaime, Conchi and Raquel.

Specializing in seafood, Restaurante El Calabré has plenty of outside tables on the beach, inside ones within an enclosed terrace, as well as an interior dining room. In the summer, they also provide beach beds for their customers.

One of the most appetizing ways to eat sardines or octopus is cooked over open coals, which is another summer special. A recent addition to the establishment’s cuisine is a pizza oven!

Their wine selection is brimming with an excellent array of reds, whites and rosés.

So, if you want to eat out on the beach in a top-class chiringuito with plenty of ‘solera,’ then Chiringuito El Calabré is an obvious choice.
