The Guardia Civil brought two suspects before a magistrate, accused of starting two mountain-brush fires; one in Lentegí and the other in Molvízar around mid March.
The fire in the municipality of Lentegí broke out on the 16th of March in an area known as Los Molinillos, where half a hectare of mountain brush was incinerated.
The next day, on the 17th, it was the turn of Molvízar in an area known as Mirchas Bajo; this time burning 2.5 hectares.
Police investigations pinpointed the starting points in both locations as close to cortijos, caused by discarded embers from fireplaces; i.e., the ashes and embers from the fireplaces had not been thoroughly extinguished before being thrown out.
The wind revived the embers, catching fire to the surrounding grass and brush, especially dry from a lack of rain.
The identity of the two men has not been made known.
