Thanks to the Florida Supreme Court a Spaniard who has spent the last 15 years on Death Row will now have his case retried.
Pablo Ibar was jailed over 20 years ago for the murder of a night-bar owner and two models in 1994.
The higher court found that Pablo’s defence lawyer had failed to use a facial-recognition expert to challenge the prosecution’s evidence: CCTV had captured the triple murder on tape and at one point the killer’s face was visible.
The family of one of the dead women are bitter over this decision, claiming that the legal system gives an accused too many chances to escape retribution, “Even if God himself came down and testified against, they would still find a way to get him off,” said the sister of one of the victims.
