Well, Almuñécar’s got a new square, Plaza Nelson Mandela, or will have once it is inaugurated on the 28th of February; El Día de Andalucía.
The left-wing party representative for the IU, Fermín Tejero had asked why the hell it was taking so long to add the plaque with Nelson’s name on it.
The spokesman for the governing party, Juan José Ruiz Joya, responded that there had been an election or two in the meantime and you cannot carry out an official inauguration anywhere near one of them. He might have added, to stop politicians like us cashing in on them for the greater glory of the party.
He also said that they had been rather busy lately, too.
Now, despite the back-and-forth between Almuñécar parties, and a flurry of press releases on when it should be inaugurated, nobody has actually pointed out where it is, bless their cotton socks…
