Independence Committee Meets

LHR independence meeting OnLThe committee for exploring the possibility of semi-independence for La Herradura recently had its first meeting, which was held in the Almuñécar Town Hall.

The committee came about after a motion was approved for its creation during a Plenary Meeting of the Almuñécar Town Hall in October, held in the Centro Cívico in La Herradura.

The Committee is composed of representatives from all the parties ( PP, PA, PSOE, PMAS Almuñécar/La Herradura and the IU). The First Councillor for La Herradura described the first meeting as “harmonious” as well it might be as they are all getting paid extra for it.

“The first session has served to agree on obtaining information on requirements and legislation stipulated by the Junta in order to obtain E.L.A. status, said the First Councillor, Juan José Ruiz Joya, adding “We have agreed on a series of meetings with the public and private sectors to find out their opinions.”

Editorial comment: Here we are with a plague of unnecessary political posts and expenses in general, when we should be eradicating superfluous administrative bodies (provincial councils, for example), yet our politicians are busy instead, cooking up a new municipal entity together with all the relevant extra expenses.
