Whilst Salobreña’s neighbouring towns pushed their own priorities at the Fitur tourist fair in Madrid, Salobreña plugged its Cine Negro.
This cine-noir film festival has become a fantastic hit all over Spain, so that Salobreña is carving out its own niche in the cinema world.
Wondering what cine-noir genre is? Think Bogart and the Maltese Falcon or The Big Sleep: private detectives and plenty of half-lit close ups.
This year is the V Muestra de Cine Negro in Spanish, organized, as always by the Asociación Cultural Calibre 18Seis80. There is a difference this year, however, and it is the month chosen, as it will be held between the 12th and 16th of April instead of March. The reason being is that Easter falls in March this year.
There will be five films screened, as well as the conferences and talks, given from folk in the film world. This year the prestigious film director, Imanol Uribe, will be presenting his latest film, Lejos del Mar, which was shot in Almería and stars Eduard Fernández and Elena Anaya.
Parallel acvities during the festival days will be a short-film festival entitled Cine al Minuto.
