A 49-year-old British woman in Mallorca was allegedly strangled by her husband using a mobile-phone charger cable.

The woman, identified as Mrs L.J. lived at 155 Calle Bella Vista (Apartamentos Siesta) in the municipality of Calviá on Mallorca.

The 50-year-old husband, identified as Mr W.L., called the emergency number 112 at 03.20h on the 23rd of January to confess that he had murdered his wife

A local police patrol was sent, together with an ICU ambulance, whose crew tried to revive her – her heart had stopped and she wasn’t breathing – but to no avail.

The paramedic noted that she had significant marks around her neck.

The husband is due to pass before a magistrate either today, Sunday or Monday. Meanwhile he is being kept in the Guardia Civil police cells in Son Rapinya, in Palma.

This is the first case of gender violence on the Balearics and the seventh in Spain, so far this year.
