One of the helicopters involved in the Asturias forest fire, belonging to the Servicio de Emergencias del Principado (SEPA) crashed this afternoon.

It is still not known what caused the crash in the La Roza area of Parres, but the accident has claimed the life of the pilot – the only person on board.

SEPA mobilized one of its rescue helicopters at 13.38h and the team on board managed to reach the crashed helicopter even though it was in an area of difficult access and recover the body of the pilot.
