Two people were arrested in Almuñécar over the thefts and vandalism inflicted upon the nativity scene belonging to the Cofradía Virgen de los Dolores.

I’ll explain. Each Christmas several cofradias spend painstaking hours creating impressive nativity scenes, that comprise of a whole village; not just a stable and a manger.

This year, somebody broke into the display room in Calle Cerrajeros and stole figures from the exhibition and then wrecked what they hadn’t stolen.

One of those arrested on Friday the 18th, in a joint operation between the municipal police and the Guardia Civil, was 39-year-old J.A.T.C. This was the second arrest, although details of the first suspect have not been given.
