Work Begins on Palomas Junction

LHR Palomas Junction Work OnLWork has begun on the N-340 junction for Las Palomas/Carmenes del Mar, La Herradura, just down from the tunnel.

The First Councillor for the village, Sr.Ruiz Joya, pointed out that there has been a long wait of many years for a road junction that does away with the 2-kilometre run around to access the present Las Palomas turning from the Málaga-bound lane.

It was May this year when the Town Hall finally received permission for the national authority that controls the nation’s road system (Fomento). Since then, says the Councillor, they have been drawing up the project and awarding the contract.

The first step is to put around a dozen road signs and erase white lines etc on the road’s surface.

The junction, which will be pretty much like the one opposite the village’s gasoline station which give access to Pago de Guerra, has a budget of 16,000 euros, financed from municipal funds.
