A 9-year-old girl in Motril was cut & bruised all over when a concrete pipe she was playing in shattered.

The incident occurred in a garden area of Calle Remo, next to the football field in El Varadero; in other words, next to the port.

Although the accident took place on Sunday the 6th, it has only just come to public light.

It appears that a group of children were trying to roll one of these sections with the young girl inside. When the pipe collided with another and it shattered, falling in pieces onto the girl inside.

The 1-metre-diametre pipe is made from quite thick concrete, so the pieces that landed on her were  heavy and jagged. Consequently, she suffered cuts and bruises to her arms, legs and back – luckily, she protected her head with her arms.

The Town Hall, in the meantime, assures that the building material was adequately fenced off and immediately offered their assistance to the girl’s family.

The building company in charge has since improved the safety measures on the site.
